CalendarFree Training Workshop - Working with Asian Problem Gambling ClientsThe Mass. Council on Compulsive Gambling is offering a free training workshop for clinicians who want to learn more about working with Asian problem gambling clients. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 20, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Council offices, 190 High Street, Suite 5, Boston.
If you are working with compulsive gambling clients of Asian or Chinese decent, you won't want to miss this training. We will explore cultural dynamics, including social norms and attitudes toward gambling and luck. We will discuss ways to overcome the cultural barriers that stand in the way of people getting the help that they need. Participants will have the opportunity to share advice based on prior experiences and problem solve around current concerns and challenges.
The training will be lead by Judy Tso, an anthropologist / diversity trainer, and the president of Aha Solutions. Her clients include non profit organizations such as the Barr Foundation and government agencies, including the USDA, as well as corporations and universities, including University of Maryland and University of Massachusetts.
