June 27, 2011 — BOSTON, MA -- The world’s leading experts on gambling and problem gambling will be in Boston at the Park Plaza Hotel and Towers on Friday, July 1 and Saturday, July 2, 2011 for the 25th National Conference on Problem Gambling. Operated by the Washington D.C.-based National Council on Problem Gambling and co-hosted by the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling and the New England Problem Gambling Consortium, the meeting is the world’s oldest and largest conference focusing on this topic.

POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS & PROBLEM GAMBLING WORKSHOP
June 14, 2011 — Lisa Najavits, PhD, professor of psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine, will lead a treatment providers workshop entitled, “Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Problem Gambling” on Tuesday, July 26, 2011.  There is no cost to attend, and this session has been approved for 1.5 hours of continuing education units.

November 4, 2009 — Governor Patrick cut in half the appropriation for compulsive gambling services, from $1 million to $500,000. YOUR IMMEDIATE ACTION IS CRUCIAL. Governor Patrick needs to know that this cut was disproportionately harsh and poorly timed. Problem gambling services are needed in the Commonwealth.
Council Offers Free Financial Education Workshops
October 28, 2009 — During the months of November and December 2009, the Council, a trusted education and training provider, and financial literacy advocate for more than 25 years, will present 12 seminars at locations throughout the state. The workshops will be held before and after traditional work hours and during the lunch hour to increase accessibility
